“Wir müssen wissen. Wir werden wissen.” (We must know. We will know.) — David Hilbert
I’m Xuyi (Sam) Ren, originally from China. I study mathematics and conduct research at Grinnell College, with interests in algebraic geometry and commutative algebra.
Through Grinnell’s Mentored Advanced Project (MAP) program, I worked with Jennifer Kenkel on the strong persistence property (SPP) in commutative algebra. Read more about the project on my research page.
I also enjoy exploring mathematical patterns and sharing what I learn. My research with Christian Roettger led to the preprint Ternary Digits of Powers of Two.
I also care about making educational resources accessible. I created Sam’s Superlab, a platform for sharing student notes and study resources. Read more about the platform on my projects page.
